Family and friends of Monique Tepe, 39, and her husband, dentist Spencer Tepe, 37, said they were “not at all shocked” to hear that Monique’s ex-husband had been arrested in connection with a murder that occurred in late December 2025.
According to police, the two victims were shot dead upstairs in Ohio in the early hours of December 30, while their two young children and pets were unharmed. Spencer died from multiple gunshot wounds, while Monique was hit by at least one bullet in the chest.

The suspect, Michael David McKee, 39, a doctor from Chicago and Monique’s ex-husband, was arrested on January 10. An anonymous relative told the media that the whole family had anticipated this outcome, but did not express any doubts so as “not to harm the investigation.”
According to relatives, in the weeks leading up to the tragedy, Tepe and his wife did not disclose any problems or conflicts related to McKee. Monique and McKee had a brief marriage and divorced in 2017, reportedly amicably.

Nearly a week after the incident, police released security camera footage showing a “person of interest” near the scene. Initially, the family thought it might just be a passerby . However, authorities later traced a vehicle that appeared in the neighborhood where the Tepe family lived and then drove away to Illinois, identifying the owner as McKee.
McKee is currently being held in Illinois and will be extradited to Ohio. Police say the motive for the crime is still being investigated.
