Months before Monique Tepe and Spencer Tepe were gunned down in a tragic double murder, an unknown woman made a mysterious phone call to emergency services, from their home address
Mere months before Monique Tepe and Spencer Tepe were slaughtered in their own home, a mysterious woman made a puzzling call to emergency services.
On December 30, Monique, 39, and Spencer, 37, were discovered dead, in what is being treated as a tragic double murder. Police records indicate that Spencer had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, while Monique had been shot at least once in the chest.
The alarm was raised after dentist Spencer failed to turn up to work that week, a move cited as “very out of character for him”. Concerned colleagues turned up at the Tepe family home, only to hear the cries of children. It was then that an urgent welfare check was issued.
The couple’s two young children, who were thankfully physically unharmed, were found in a state of distress. Now, as questions remain, a chilling phone call has left police perplexed.
At around 2:45 am on April 15, many months before this shocking tragedy, a 911 operator recieved a mysterious phone call from the couple’s Weiland Park residence in Columbus, in the US state of Ohio.
This is according to audio dispatch obtained by Fox News Digital, which captures a woman reporting a “domestic dispute”. The woman hung up during the call, and when the operator called her back to make sure she no longer required assistance, she claimed she was fine.
The operator asked, “Hi, this is 911. We just got a hang-up call. Is everything okay?” The woman, who appeared audibly upset and tearful, insisted she was “okay” and “just emotional.”
In response, the operator questioned: “Well, can I ask what had you called 911 in the first place?” She then replied: “Because me and my man got into it, but I’m okay, I promise.”
When pressed further, the woman claimed that the altercation did not get physical and confirmed that neither of the individuals involved had hit each other.
Rob Misleh, Monique’s brother-in-law, told People magazine, that he didn’t believe it was made by her, adding: “I one hundred percent know that is not Monique’s voice, adding that the voice did not sound like anyone else he knew either. “Whatever FOX News showed, I think it just maybe pinged at their address, that’s probably a neighbor,” he says. “It’s so obviously not Monique’s voice. It’s not them.”
A dispatcher at the Columbus Emergency Communications Center labelled the call as a “domestic dispute,” noting that assistance was “no longer needed.”
Investigators have ruled out a murder-suicide scenario in this case, and also found no evidence of forced entry or a weapon at the scene. The Columbus Police Department have since released a video of a “person of interest” in this case, who was seen walking around an alley close to the property, wearing light pants and a dark, hooded coat.
Monique’s brother, Rob Misleh, told WSYX that the pair had married in 2021 and had been just one month away from marking their fifth wedding anniversary. Rob stated: “They were extraordinary people whose lives were filled with love, joy, and deep connection to others. We are heartbroken beyond words. The family is committed to seeing this tragedy fully and fairly brought to justice.”
Officers have started a murder probe, while Columbus authorities in are awaiting the coroner’s documents, including toxicology reports.
