Months before Spencer and Monique Tepe were found dead inside their Columbus, Ohio, home, a woman called 911 from the same address.
On April 15, 2025 at 2:45 A.M. local time, an unnamed woman called from the couple’s residence to report what the dispatcher described as a “domestic dispute,” according to audio of the call obtained by PEOPLE. The woman hung up, prompting a call back from 911 at which point she spoke with a dispatcher.
During the conversation, the woman was crying and repeatedly apologized to the dispatcher. She assured multiple times that she was “OK.”
When pressed by the operator about why she was crying, the woman said she was “just emotional” and did not need police or paramedic assistance. She told the operator she’d initially called “because me and my man got into it, but I’m OK, I promise.”Our new app is here! Free, fun and full of exclusives. Scan to download now!
In the 911 conversation, the woman said there had been an argument, but nothing physical occurred. The dispatcher told the caller that she’d cancel the officers responding to the address, and coded the call as a “domestic dispute” with “assistance no longer needed.”
On Dec. 30, 2025, Spencer and Monique were discovered dead at the same home with gunshot wounds after police responded to calls for welfare checks on the couple.Police previously confirmed that they found no signs of forced entry and no firearms at the scene. Spencer was shot multiple times, while Monique sustained at least one gunshot wound to the chest.
The Columbus Division of Police is investigating the matter as a double homicide and not murder-suicide, WSYX and CNN reported.
