The woman gunned down by an ICE agent in Minneapolis has been identified as 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good, who described herself as a mother, a wife and a poet.
Good was identified by her mom hours after she was killed when she allegedly tried to ram ICE agents on a street in the city, the Star Tribune reported.
“Renee was one of the kindest people I’ve ever known,” her mother, Donna Ganger, told the newspaper.
Video appeared to show her Honda Pilot making contact with an ICE agent as he opened fire. President Trump and other officials have said Good’s killing was justified.
Her mom added: “She was extremely compassionate. She’s taken care of people all her life. She was loving, forgiving and affectionate. She was an amazing human being.”
“She was probably terrified,” Ganger added, saying the circumstances of the death were “so stupid.”
Good was a “writer and poet,” and was previously married to a comedian who died in 2023, also at age 37.
“Wife and mom and sh–ty guitar strummer from Colorado; experiencing Minneapolis,” read her Instagram bio, which was accompanied by a pride flag and she/her pronouns.
She was killed in a middle class neighborhood in south Minneapolis where ICE agents were carrying out an immigration operation Wednesday.
Good was among several people who allegedly blocked the street with their vehicles to prevent the agents from moving, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
Agents got out of their blocked truck and ordered the woman to move her SUV, at which point she sped toward one of the officers, pushing him with her vehicle. As he spun toward the driver’s seat window, he fired three shots into the car, footage from numerous angles shows.
She was shot at least once in the head, and later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Department of Homeland Security called her a domestic terrorist who attempted to kill federal agents.
“One of these violent rioters weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them — an act of domestic terrorism,” DHS assistant secretary for public affairs Tricia McLaughlin wrote on X.

Good’s mother was baffled by the idea of her being involved in an ICE protest, however, saying she was “not part of anything like that at all.”
Her SUV swiftly crashed into a row of parked cars as onlookers screamed in horror.
Footage taken near the scene appeared to show a distraught woman claiming to be Good’s wife – who sobbed as she said the shooting was “her fault” and that she had a young child at school.
“They shot her in the head. I have a 6 year old in school,” she appeared to say, telling a bystander that they were new to the area and she didn’t know who to call.
“I made her come down here, it’s my fault,” she said. “They just shot my wife.”
“Why did you have real bullets? She was yelling!” the woman then appeared to scream at the nearby federal agents, who did not appear to pay attention to her.
The woman’s face appeared to be covered in blood, and she apparently had gone into the car and attempted to help Good, the witness filming the video said.
Local leaders did not hide their outrage over the killing as the footage began to spread.
“To ICE, get the f—k out of Minneapolis. We do not want you here,” Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said during a fiery press conference after the shooting.
“Your stated reason for being in this city is to create some kind of safety, and you are doing exactly the opposite,” he scoffed.
Gov. Tim Walz called the DHS’ explanation of the shooting “propaganda.”
“I’ve seen the video. Don’t believe this propaganda machine,” Walz wrote on X. “The state will ensure there is a full, fair, and expeditious investigation to ensure accountability and justice.”
The shooting came as the DHS was engaged in an enormous immigration operation in Minnesota, partially spurned by allegations of multi-billion dollar federal fraud schemes allegedly carried out largely by illegal immigrants.
