On Sunday, May 24, Vanessa was seen entering her apartment with her boyfriend, later identified as 28-year-old Damarcus David Jones. Two days later, surveillance footage captured Jones returning to the building alone, dragging the same black suitcase in which police would later discover Vanessa’s body. Authorities tracked him down and arrested him on June 2 in the town of Dixon.
