Two helicopters collided in mid-air in the Recreio dos Bandeariantes area, west of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) on June 14, killing all six people on board.

Singers, music producers, directors, and YouTubers were all on board the helicopter.

According to firefighters, after a mid-air collision, the two helicopters crashed into the parking lot of an electric vehicle dealership, setting approximately 20 cars on fire.

One helicopter carried five people, while the other had only the pilot.

Lieutenant Colonel Fabio Contreiras, a fire department spokesman, said that rescue workers found a burning helicopter among the trams, with five victims inside. A second helicopter was found about 100 meters away, carrying only the pilot, who also perished.

American pop singer Oliver Tree is suspected to have been among those on board one of the two helicopters that crashed, AFP reported on June 15, citing a source from the investigating police force.

The source said the passenger lists for the two helicopters showed singer Oliver Tree was on one of the flights. However, the victims could not be officially identified due to the severe burns inflicted on their bodies after the accident.

According to the list, the passengers traveling with singer Oliver Tree included a Brazilian music producer, an Argentinian video director, and an Argentinian YouTuber, Gaspar Prim, commonly known as Gaspi.

Earlier, Rio de Janeiro Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere said there were “foreign nationals on one of the two planes,” but provided no further details.

Oliver Tree was touring in Brazil before news of the accident broke.

Oliver Tree, 32, is known for his distinctive bowl-cut hairstyle and eccentric image on the internet. He is best known for his songs “Life Goes On,” “Miss You,” and “Alien Boy.”

The male singer currently has over 11 million monthly listeners on Spotify, with his most popular songs having garnered over 700 million streams.

Singer Oliver Tree often combines music with performance art through jokes, satirical content on social media, and daring stunts in his productions.

In recent days, Oliver Tree’s Instagram account has been posting videos documenting his trip to Brazil. The singer performed in Sao Paulo on June 6th as part of his tour across more than 30 countries. His next performance is scheduled for Lisbon, Portugal, on July 1st.

Speaking to CNN at the scene, Lieutenant Colonel Contreiras said the exact circumstances leading to the accident were still unclear.

“The aircraft debris is scattered over an area of hundreds of meters, so the information we have so far is still preliminary. We need to gather recordings and videos to determine exactly what happened,” said Contreiras.

Accidents involving small aircraft are fairly common in Brazil. Last month, a small plane crashed into the side of a building in the southeastern city of Belo Horizonte, killing the pilot and co-pilot.

According to data from the Brazilian Center for Aviation Accident Investigation and Prevention (CENIPA), the country recorded 84 aviation accidents in 2026, resulting in 25 fatalities.
