Savannah Guthrie sat down for an emotional interview with her former ‘Today’ show colleague, Hoda Kotb, and discussed the disappearance of her mom, Nancy Guthrie, for the first time
Savannah Guthrie is speaking at length about her mother Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance for the first time in an emotional interview with Hoda Kotb.
The Today show anchor sat down with her former co-anchor in a pre-taped interview that took place on March 24. During the March 25 episode of Today, Kotb spoke about her interview with Guthrie, which will air on the morning show in two parts on Thursday, March 26, and Friday, March 27.
“It was a really emotional conversation,” Kotb said on air before showing a preview clip. “We’re gonna have the whole thing for you tomorrow and Friday.”
Although Savannah has previously pleaded for help to find her mom on social media and shared emotional videos, her talk with Kotb marks the first time she’s given a televised interview about the tragic disappearance.
Nancy, who is 84 years old, was last seen on Jan. 31, after her family dropped her off at her home in Tucson, Ariz. She was reported missing the following morning when she didn’t show up to her usual virtual church service.
Since then, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) has launched an extensive search for Nancy that has uncovered surveillance footage of a masked person at her front door in the early hours of Feb. 1.
Here’s everything to know about how to watch Savannah Guthrie’s first interview since her mom Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.

Savannah Guthrie speaks out on the Today Show.NBC
Savannah has chosen to talk about her mom Nancy’s disappearance for the first time in a lengthy Today interview with Kotb, who formerly co-anchored the morning show with her.
While viewers will have to wait to see exactly what Savannah discusses, the Today show aired a preview clip that showed the two women getting emotional. Kotb explained ahead of the clip, which aired March 25, that they wanted to share a moment when “Savannah shared a message to anybody who may have information about Nancy.”
“Someone needs to do the right thing. We are in agony. We are in agony. It is unbearable,” she pleaded.

Savannah went on to describe her daily pain and struggle with still not knowing what happened to her mom or where she is now.
“And to think of what she went through. I wake up every night in the middle of the night, every night,” she said. “And in the darkness, I imagine her terror. And it is unthinkable, but those thoughts demand to be thought. And I will not hide my face. But she needs to come home now.”
Who interviewed Savannah?
Savannah’s longtime colleague and former Today co-anchor, Kotb, interviewed her. The pair previously made history by becoming the first female duo to host the Today show from 2017 until Kotb took a step back in January 2025.
However, amid Savannah’s absence from the program, Kotb stepped up and resumed her anchoring duties. After Kotb introduced the interview and played the one-minute clip, her co-host Carson Daly asked her how both she and Savannah felt.
“There is a desperation and also a steeliness about Savannah,” Kotb said after the clip played. “I mean, she’s hoping that somebody, whoever this person is, will see something and say something and as you’ll see in the coming days she talks about so many things. She talks about the investigation; she talks about her faith; and she talks about how she’s getting through that was one portion there.”
Kotb added that Savannah also speaks about “how God’s holding her hand,” to which Kotb couldn’t help but “marvel” that “she was able to sit there with an outfit on, have a conversation, and also have just direct thoughts about what she sees going forward.”
