Alysa Liu was nominated by TC Candler as one of the top 100 most beautiful faces in the world.
This is the first time Alysa Liu has been nominated for TC Candler. It also demonstrates her strong appeal after winning two gold medals at the 2026 Winter Olympics. At this event, besides her talent, Alysa also impressed with her blonde-brown striped hair, styled by Kelsey Miller in St. Louis. The dyeing process took five hours, and this hairstyle was requested by many other clients at Miller’s salon.
Alysa is also seen as a new face representing the younger generation of athletes, daring to challenge long-standing norms of fashion, beauty, and self-expression in the world of figure skating. After shining at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics in February, the 20-year-old figure skating star’s Instagram followers increased from 210,000 to 7 million.

Alysa Liu (Chinese name: Lưu Mỹ Hiền) was born in 2005 in California, USA, to Chinese parents. Her father, Arthur Liu, sought political asylum in the US in 1989 after leaving Guangzhou, China. According to The Athletic , China once invited Liu to represent them at the Winter Olympics, but Mr. Liu declined, so his daughter continued to compete for the US. American media nicknamed the female figure skaters from the US, including Alysa Liu, “Ice Angels.”
Liu was also a remarkable phenomenon in women’s figure skating. She was the youngest athlete to win the US Championships, winning twice in a row at the young ages of 13 and 14. As a teenager, she performed a three-and-a-half-rotation (3A) jump and even combined a quad with a 3A, something no other female athlete had achieved at the time.
After unexpectedly retiring at age 16 to pursue a normal life, Liu returned to competition at 18 and quickly won her first world championship at just 19. She is the first American athlete to win an Olympic gold medal in women’s singles figure skating since Sarah Hughes in 2002 in Salt Lake City. Prior to that, the US had dominated this event with athletes like Tara Lipinski and Kristi Yamaguchi. However, after Sasha Cohen’s silver medal in 2006, the US women’s figure skating team went four Olympic Games without a gold medal. This year, she achieved a remarkable feat with two Olympic gold medals, marking a significant milestone for American figure skating.
