NOT A ROBBERY: Jimmy Gracey’s wallet found floating with cash and cards intact — as police pivot to ‘predatory drugging’ theory

According to new information from sources close to the case, investigators have not ruled out the possibility that Jimmy Gracey may have been drugged before his death off the coast of Spain.
While authorities in Barcelona have publicly described his death as accidental, sources told Fox News Digital that investigators privately suspect he may have been under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or both when he entered the water and drowned.

Gracey had been in Barcelona visiting friends studying abroad for spring break. On the night of March 16, they went out to a popular beachfront club called Shoko. His friends left before him. The next morning, they were horrified to discover Jimmy never made it back to the AirBnB. He was reported missing, and a search began.

After expanding the search to the sea, Gracey’s wallet was found floating in the water nearby, and it is now confirmed that all of his cash, credit cards, and identification were still inside— showing that a robbery was highly unlikely.

A witness told police they had spotted him walking down by the docks alone in the early hours of the morning on March 17. A couple days later, his body was recovered in about 13 ft-deep water close to the club where he was last seen. Investigators said he fell in, and nobody was around to help him get out of the water to safety.

One of the leading theories is that he may have been drugged, voluntarily taken substances (which I personally don’t believe at all), or consumed enough alcohol to become disoriented.

Authorities say several key pieces of evidence are still pending before the case can be officially closed. Investigators are awaiting the results of an autopsy and toxicology report, which could determine what, if any, substances were in Gracey’s system at the time of his death.

The source also provided new details about a man previously arrested in connection with Gracey’s missing phone. According to investigators, the individual—who has a history of theft—claimed he found the phone on the street and picked it up. Police currently do not believe he had any direct interaction with Gracey.

At this stage, officials continue to treat the case as a likely accident, but unanswered questions remain as they work to finalize the investigation.
