Outlander fans surprised to discover a special real-life connection between young Rupert and Angus Mhor

As the series Outlander approaches its conclusion, the universe created by Diana Gabaldon continues to expand with the spin-off series Outlander: Blood of My Blood, which is broadcast on Starz in the United States. Already renewed for a second season, the new series delves into the youth of Jamie and Claire’s parents, while bringing back beloved characters. The unforgettable Angus and Rupert, played by Stephen Walters and Grant O’Rourke in the original series, return in Outlander: Blood of My Blood, played by their real-life sons, Marlow Walters and Louis O’Rourke.
This passing of the torch was particularly touching for Stephen Walters and Grant O’Rourke, as they revealed at Land Con 7. “It was very moving to see our boys on the same set, in the same place, performing in this drama that we were in ten years ago […] To see them growing up and performing like that, it was a very proud emotional moment,” admits Stephen Walters.
Grant O’Rourke, for his part, does not lack humor when discussing his professional resemblance to his son: “He’s already exactly like me as a professional. He gets bored so quickly and he complains like the best of them.” On a more serious note, he said that even without having watched the original series, the young actors naturally captured the essence of their characters: “there’s so much of us in the characters and they’re just, there’s so much of us in them as well. They were just totally exactly like them.”
