Police in Arizona have detained an individual for questioning in connection with the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, mother of Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie, on Tuesday, Feb. 10, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department detained the individual in a location south of Tucson. Officials are preparing to search a location linked to the individual, per ABC News, which was first to report the news.

The subject was detained during a traffic stop south of Tucson, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.

On Feb. 10, authorities released new images and videos of an armed and masked subject who appeared to tamper with the camera on Nancy’s front door. It is unknown whether the person detained is the same person who can be seen in the video.

PEOPLE also learned that members of the regional SWAT team and bomb squads have been activated for a mission with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday, per the Oro Valley Police Department. Authorities could not confirm, however, if the mission was directly related to the search for Nancy, who has been missing for over a week.

The detainment news comes as the Pima County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI were seen in the neighborhood of Annie Guthrie, Savannah’s sister and Nancy’s daughter, asking questions.

Annie’s property is located approximately four miles from her mother’s longtime home in Tucson, where she was taken in the middle of the night on Jan. 31, authorities said.

Nancy was last seen in the evening of Jan. 31 when her son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, dropped her off at her house after she had dinner with him and Annie at their home, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos previously told The New York Times.

She was initially reported missing on Feb. 1 by her family after she did not show up at a friend’s home to livestream a church service as planned. Shortly after, law enforcement launched a massive investigation into her disappearance, saying they believe she was taken against her will, Nanos said at a press conference on Tuesday, Feb. 3.

Since the investigation began, a trail of what appears to be blood was seen on the front steps of Nancy’s home. Police confirmed that blood found on the exterior porch of Nancy’s Tucson home matches her DNA. Remnants of a Ring camera had also been removed from the front door area, PEOPLE confirmed.

In the following days, there were reports of alleged ransom notes being sent to media outlets, including local news station KOLD News 13 and TMZ.

Days later, on Feb. 7, Savannah and her siblings posted an emotional video on Instagram in which they spoke directly to their mother’s alleged kidnappers, saying, “We will pay.”
