A cheating husband has been charged with gunning down his wife as their children frantically called 911 — just days after the mom-of-four kicked him out of their home and hit him with a restraining order.
Cecil Mains, 47 is accused of murdering his 44-year-old wife, Jerri Mains, in front of their terrified kids — ages 19, 17, 14, and 10 — in their Indianapolis home on Dec. 28, police said.
Dispatchers received multiple 911 calls from the couple’s children as the violence was unfolding — with their 10-year-old daughter begging for help, saying: “My dad is shooting my mom;” “I’m hiding;” “Please help me;” “My mom had a restraining order against him;” “I heard gunshots.”
“I can’t live without her,” the girl heartbreakingly cried.
“My dad just shot my mom twice… He shot her in the house and in the driveway,” the couple’s eldest child added in a separate 911 call.
The slain victim, who was discovered by cops in the driveway, later died in the hospital after being shot twice in the chest, police said.
The deadly saga allegedly unfolded after the wife had apparently caught Mains cheating on her and planned to leave him, court documents obtained by The Post showed.
After booting him from the family home, she filed a protection order on Christmas Day after Mains allegedly assaulted her with kitchen tongs the night before and threatened to kill her multiple times.
Days later, Mains allegedly stormed in, grabbed a gun from inside a safe and opened fire on his wife, cops said.
Their 19-year-old son told cops he was trying to intervene when he saw his dad waving the firearm, according to court documents.
He alleged he saw his father shoot his mom once near the front door and then again in the driveway.
Mains allegedly fled the scene in his pickup truck in the wake of the shooting but was nabbed nearby during a traffic stop.
“The facts of this case are devastating,” Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears said in a statement.
“As we move forward with the criminal proceedings, our thoughts remain with Jeri’s four children, who have endured an unthinkable tragedy and are now facing an incredibly difficult journey ahead.”
Mains was slapped with a murder charge on Tuesday.
Jeri, meanwhile, was described in her obituary as the “most devoted mother.”
“She loved her children so much that in everything that she did, she put her children’s consideration first,” the tribute stated.
“Jeri loved her family and friends fiercely. She was the person you would want in your corner, as she would do everything for those she cared about.”
