MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis Police, Fire Department and 911 transcripts have been released, revealing more information about the day an ICE agent shot and killed Renee Good.
Good was acting as a legal observer of ICE raids on Jan. 7 with her wife near 34th and Portland Avenue in Minneapolis. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stated that she attempted to drive her car into ICE agents, and Jonathan Ross feared for his life and shot her dead.
However, videos posted online contest that narrative. Good said, “That’s fine, dude, I’m not mad at you,” before a second ICE agent ran up to her car and attempted to open the driver’s side door. Ross is standing at the front left side of the car and some people say Good appeared to turn her car away from him before she started to drive. Ross fired three shots, killing her.
Paramedics reported finding two apparent gunshot wounds to Good’s chest, one to her left forearm and another possible gunshot wound to her head.
The initial call came in at 9:38 a.m. By 10:04 a.m., Ross reportedly left the scene to go to a federal building.
One of the 911 calls was from someone with the DHS. Here’s how it went:
CALLER: “Uh, yeah we had officers stuck in a vehicle and we had agitators on scene. And we have shots fired by our locals.”
OPERATOR: “Do you have a description of the shooter?”
CALLER: “No, I don’t have any of that stuff, we’re just trying to get assistance.”
Another 911 caller witnessed the shooting and the aftermath.
“I saw (inaudible) an ICE officer fired two shots through her windshield into the driver. She tried to drive away but crashed into the nearest vehicle that was parked. Um, her partner was out of the vehicle, ran to help. Um, I (inaudible) a vehicle as well and I saw blood all over the driver and then the partner who was trying to provide assistance,” the 911 transcript read.
DHS has released a video of the shooting on social media, but has not released any call transcripts.
