Fatal Incident Reported: Authorities confirm a deadly ski accident at a Lake Tahoe resort, and the victim is said to be a well-known figure

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (KGO) — The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reported two fatal ski incidents at the Heavenly Mountain Resort on Friday.

Authorities say the incidents were reported just before noon at Heavenly’s Boulder Lodge. Life-saving measures were attempted on both victims; however, they were both pronounced deceased at the scene.

The sheriff’s office said the two incidents are not connected.

No causes of death or the identities of the victims were made available.

This follows a series of deadly ski incidents in the Tahoe area in the last month.

On Tuesday, an avalanche at Castle Peak claimed the lives of nine backcountry skiers, including a group of mothers and three Blackbird Mountain guides.

Northstar California Resort has reported three deaths in the month of February, including two people from the Bay Area.
