Investigators are reviewing a newly surfaced audio recording believed to be the final phone call made by Christopher Lee Palmer before he vanished along the North Carolina coast — and authorities say the call may mark a critical turning point in the case.
In the recording, Palmer can be heard screaming in panic, his voice strained and breathless as conditions around him appear to rapidly deteriorate. Most strikingly, he mentions a third name, a detail that has immediately drawn the attention of law enforcement.
A Voice in Distress — and an Unexpected Name
According to sources familiar with the investigation, Palmer initially sounds alert but tense. Moments later, his tone escalates into fear. At one point, he appears to address someone directly, uttering a name that does not belong to any known family member or close associate.
The call ends abruptly.
Authorities have not publicly released the name or the full audio, citing the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
