Brooklyn is believed to have reached his ‘limit’ in his strained relationship with his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, leading him to publicly express his discord on January 19th.
According to a Page Six source , the relationship had reached a “serious breakdown of trust,” with the tipping point occurring last week – just days before Brooklyn made the shocking statement on Instagram, directly targeting his family.

Sources indicate that, from Brooklyn and his wife, Nicola Peltz ‘s perspective , they did everything they could to mend their relationship with David and Victoria privately: trying to talk to them, arranging meetings. However, ultimately, they lost trust. Brooklyn and his wife are increasingly tired of constantly reading “untrue” information about them in the media.
“They feel they’ve had enough,” the source added. The source also suggested that as tensions escalated in recent months, it had become a power struggle between two influential families: the Beckhams and billionaire Peltz.
“One of them no longer wanted to endure this. They just wanted to move on with their lives. Last week was the final straw,” the source said.
Amid growing tensions with his parents, Brooklyn posted a lengthy message on Instagram Stories on Monday, publicly addressing the family conflict for the first time. He stated that he had remained silent for years to resolve the issue privately, but now had no choice but to “tell the truth about some of the lies that have been posted.”
“I don’t want to reconcile with my family,” Brooklyn, 26, wrote. “I’m not being controlled by anyone. For the first time in my life, I’m standing up for myself. My whole life, my parents have controlled the media narratives about our family.”
Brooklyn accused David (50) and Victoria (51) of maintaining “showy social media posts, formal family events, and insincere relationships.” “Recently, I’ve witnessed firsthand how far they’re willing to go to spread countless lies in the media, mostly harming innocent people, just to protect their facade,” he wrote.

Brooklyn also accused his parents of “repeatedly trying to sabotage” his relationship with Nicola Peltz (31), starting with their wedding in Florida in 2022. He said Victoria canceled the design of Nicola’s wedding dress at the last minute, even though Nicola was eager to wear her mother-in-law’s design, forcing her to hastily find another dress. Brooklyn also alleged that his parents repeatedly pressured him before the wedding, even “trying to bribe” him to “relinquish the copyright to his name.” He said his refusal affected their financial interests, and since then his parents “have not treated him the same way.”
Brooklyn also revealed that Victoria “stole the spotlight” during the couple’s first dance at the wedding. “She danced in a very inappropriate way right in front of everyone. I’ve never felt so uncomfortable and humiliated in my life.”
Later, Brooklyn and his wife held a ceremony to renew their wedding vows in August 2025, hoping to “create new memories of their wedding day, bringing joy and happiness, instead of anxiety and embarrassment.”
Brooklyn also refuted the notion that he was controlled by his wife. “In fact, I was controlled by my parents for most of my life,” he wrote, revealing that he suffered from severe anxiety growing up. The 26-year-old chef said that since leaving his family, that anxiety has disappeared and he has found peace and relief.
In a lengthy post, the eldest Beckham son also criticized the Beckham family for prioritizing image promotion and commercial deals above all else. Brooklyn recounted that last year he and his wife flew to London to celebrate his father’s birthday but were “denied entry.” According to him, David only agreed to meet at a large party with hundreds of guests and cameras everywhere, and did not accept Nicola’s presence.

Representatives for David and Victoria have not yet responded to their son’s post.
The Beckham family has been plagued by rumors of discord since Brooklyn and Nicola married in April 2022. The rift intensified last year when Brooklyn and Nicola were absent from all Beckham family events. The conflict reportedly peaked last month when Brooklyn blocked his parents and younger brother Cruz on social media .
According to the Daily Mail , Brooklyn also informed his parents that they should only communicate with him through his lawyer and not post anything about him or tag him on social media.
However, another source revealed to Page Six that David and Victoria still hope to mend their relationship with their eldest son. “All they want is to fix their relationship with their son and daughter-in-law. They still hope and believe that the whole family can be reunited,” the source said.
