Old friends of Dr. Mike McKee reached out to me today. Here’s what they say:
They are just as stunned as the current colleagues and co-workers at OSF.
They described Mike as someone who is/was highly intelligent. In fact, they said he was crazy and effortlessly smart. He was athletic, kind, studious, soft spoken and kind of witty. They tell me that Mike never had any arguments or beef with anyone. They also shared that they can’t ever recall him dating anyone, at least not seriously. He was focused on academics and athletics.
They also shared that Mike’s parents are the kindest people. Friends say they were kind of strict and they never saw Mike “out” or at any parties, but say the McKees were great parents.
According to these friends, it was never a secret that Mike was adopted. They did confirm that he completely cut contact with his parents after going to Ohio State, but no one seems to know why.
The McKees, according to these friends, were not even invited to Mike and Monique’s wedding. Friends report Mike’s parents reaching out to them to reach out to him, but their attempts were unsuccessful. None of the requests were responded to.
These same childhood friends report that no one in that area has heard from him since about 2016. They also do not believe he had been in Zanesville over the holidays. There has not been any source confirming him being there or seeing him. This is a smaller town where everyone seems to know everything – typical small town stuff. They also are not aware of any second marriage.
Of course, they are all trying to wrap their minds around this whole situation as well.
