Chaos descended upon Minneapolis Wednesday after a female protester was shot and killed by federal immigration officers after she allegedly attempted to mow them down with her vehicle, dramatic video shows.
Renee Nicole Good, 37, was shot dead by an ICE agent at East 34th Street and Portland Avenue, and footage from the scene appears to show her striking the officer with her car before he opened fire through the vehicle’s window.
President Trump and Homeland Security officials said the unidentified agent who opened fire did so in self-defense after being struck by Good’s car.
“It is hard to believe he is still alive, but is now recovering in the hospital,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
The unrest began when “violent rioters” flooded the streets attempting to impede ICE’s “targeted operations” in Minneapolis, DHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin said, and intensified after Good was shot.
One protester was seen on video setting an American flag ablaze, while others lobbed snowballs at police officers and federal agents. Another was struck with pepper balls after trying to snatch a weapon from an officer.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and other local Democrats — including embattled lame-duck Gov. Tim Walz — blasted the feds over the morning ICE raid and Good’s shooting.
“To ICE, get the f–k out of Minneapolis. We do not want you here,” Frey said during a press conference after the shooting.
“Your stated reason for being in this city is to create some kind of safety, and you are doing exactly the opposite.”

Renee Nicole Good’s dad says daughter was ‘caught in crossfire’ during fatal shooting
The father of Renee Nicole Good said his daughter was “caught in the crossfire” after she was shot dead by an ICE agent in Minneapolis on Wednesday.
Tim Ganger and his wife, Donna, were informed about their daughter’s death late Wednesday morning and said they were processing the information surrounding the shooting.
“I think she was just caught in a crossfire,” Granger told the Washington Post on Wednesday. “She was caught in a bad situation today. But we don’t know the facts.”
The 37-year-old Good, a Colorado native, had recently moved to Minnesota after living with her parents in Valley Falls, Kansas.
She found refuge with her parents after her second husband, a military veteran who suffered from PTSD, died three years ago, the outlet reported.
The grieving parents remembered their daughter, who had three children.
“She had a good life, but a hard life,” Ganger said. “She was a wonderful person.”
Tim and Donna Ganger said they would make a statement after learning more of the “facts” and speaking with Good’s current partner and 6-year-old son.
Renee Nicole Good was killed on her sister’s birthday, her grieving family says
Minneapolis mom Renee Nicole Good was killed on her sister’s birthday, her grieving family revealed on Wednesday.
The 37-year-old’s uncle, Robert Ganger, said that the family learned that Good was shot dead behind the wheel during an encounter with ICE agents as her older sister was set to celebrate her birthday, according to ABC Denver7.
Good was born in Colorado Springs and recently moved to Minnesota.
She leaves behind three children, a 15-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son from her first marriage and a 6-year-old son from her second marriage, the Washington Post reported.
Renee Nicole Good studied English, graduated from Old Dominion University in 2020
Old Dominion University said it is grieving the death of former student Renee Nicole Good on Wednesday, hours after she was fatally shot by an ICE agent on Wednesday.
Good, 37, graduated from Old Dominion University’s College of Arts and Letters with a degree in English in 2020.
“This is yet another clear example that fear and violence have sadly become commonplace in our nation. Indeed, this tragedy reflects the deep strain being felt in countless communities across our nation. As citizens, it is our duty and right to call upon leaders and officials to restore civility in all facets of our lives, especially at the hands of those who are entrusted to protect and serve,” Old Dominion University President Brian O. Hemphill wrote.
In 2020, Good received an Academy of American Poets Prize for her poem titled, “On Learning to Dissect Fetal Pigs.”
“May Renee’s life be a reminder of what unites us: freedom, love, and peace,” Hemphill said. “My hope is for compassion, healing, and reflection at a time that is becoming one of the darkest and most uncertain periods in our nation’s history.”
