The penultimate episode picks up right where episode 7 left off after Beulah collapsed

Romance is finally on the cards for Beulah (Annette Bening) and Everett (Ed Harris).
Season 1, episode 8 of Dutton Ranch, which dropped on Friday, June 26, picked up right where the previous episode left off, with Beulah being airlifted from the 10-Petal Ranch 190th anniversary party to a nearby hospital after she collapsed.
A very hungover Carter (Finn Little) is then forced to reckon with his decision-making, and he and Beth (Kelly Reilly) have a long-awaited heart-to-heart, though the conversation ultimately spurred more complications.
Joaquin (Juan Pablo Raba), meanwhile, was still fuming over Beulah’s decision to name Rob-Will (Jai Courtney) as the ranch’s heir.

Do Everett and Beulah get back together?

After she collapsed and was rushed to the hospital at the end of episode 6, Oreana (Natalie Alyn Lind) and Everett stayed by Beulah’s side at the hospital. As she recovered, the shock of the incident hit Everett.
“When I watched you almost die, well, I’d hate to waste a shot at love just ’cause I’m so damn stubborn,” he told her, and she agreed. “Well, I’d hate it too.”
“What I’m trying to say is, I’m ready to take that final ride with you, if you are,” Everett said, referring to Beulah’s offer from earlier this season about rekindling their romance.
“If I’d known that a heart attack would change your mind, I’d have had one sooner,” Beulah quipped.
Everett’s confession seemed to energize her, and she was ready to get out of the hospital — with Everett. He helped her sneak out and they went back to his house.

Rip (Cole Hauser) brought Carter back home after he caused a scene at Beulah’s party, and in the morning, Carter finally told Beth that he’d dropped out of school and his “dream” is to be a cowboy — like Rip and like John Dutton (Kevin Costner) — so Beth put him to work.
He went with Rip and Azul (J.R. Villareal) to 10-Petal for his first day, though his hangover mostly kept him from having any success, and he had to rush out of Rip’s truck to puke on the drive over.
He was stubborn all day long despite being unprepared and nauseous, and things finally boiled over when he fell off his horse trying to wrangle a cow, and then snapped at Azul, which earned him a slap on the wrist from Rip. “F— this s—,” Carter said and rode off.
Back at home, Rip tried to talk to him, but Carter wouldn’t listen. “You’ll never be my father,” he told Rip. “I got two people who think they’re saviors ’cause they took in an orphan.”
Carter went right inside, grabbed his car keys and told Beth, “I’m out of here.” She followed him out, and in an emotional moment, she said, “You didn’t ask for us, okay? I know. But you and I? We were given to one another, and I’m sure as hell glad that we were. I’m sorry I haven’t been there for you.”
With tears in his eyes, he said he needed to be alone, and Beth let him leave, but she told him, “Just know this will always be your home.”
What does Austin tell Beth and Rip about 10-Petal Ranch?

Between Wes and Chet’s disappearances, 10-Petal ranch-hand Austin (Sterlin English) has had enough of covering up the Jackson family’s secrets. He first confides in Zachariah (Marc Menchaca), who then brings him to Beth and Rip, where he reveals that 10-Petal has “an operation down in Mexico that steals and smuggles cattle in illegally.”
The family “forges all the paperwork for border patrol and cattle brokers,” Austin explained. “Place is so mismanaged, it’s the only way they’ve kept the lights on, kept living in luxury. I mean, hell, it’s the only way they’ve been able to afford a goddamn thing.”
“Whole Jackson family’s crooked, top to bottom. They ain’t ranchers. Those motherf—ers are thieves, putting every ranch in South Texas at risk,” Austin said.
“Wes wanted to get to the bottom of it. Buddied up to Rob-Will, then ended up dead,” Austin explains. “10-Petal’s got an operation down in Mexico that steals and smuggles cattle in illegally.”
The season 1 finale of Dutton Ranch premieres Friday, July 3, on Paramount+. The series has been renewed for a season 2.
