Outlander actor Sam Heughan has revealed the one aspect he found most challenging while portraying Highland hero Jamie Fraser in the Starz drama, which has now aired its eighth and final season, according to the Daily Record.
The 45-year-old star shared in his recent Instagram documentary series: “His stock, which I can never tie myself. That’s the one piece of the costume I hated—the stock. It’s just uncomfortable. It’s like wearing a tie to work.”
“But for me, I always thought again, it should be a thing that’s quite loose that he wears it.
“He takes it off, he keeps it warm, maybe takes it off to bandage his hand or use it for washing with in the stream and then washes himself with it.
“Again, it’s a piece of practical clothing rather than just a costume.”
In each instalment, Heughan examines various elements of embodying the character and the fourth episode concentrated on the wardrobe.
The actor continued to elaborate in the footage: “We had amazing costume designers on the show and I think that was always a part of the process, and it was really collaborative.
“It was amazing to see and you try on different things and they go away and create these fantastic costumes, so much detail, really sculpt them, so you were really building a character.”

Heughan noted that Jamie “always felt most comfortable” in his kilt and that he was a “true Scotsman”. He stated: “We tried to keep that as much as we could in the seasons where wearing the kilt was outlawed. We tried to find moments where he could wear it.”
Heughan disclosed how he’d carry his mobile phone, some snacks and some lip balm in Jamie’s sporran.
He further added: “The costume really helps and I’m not someone who likes to look in the mirror but when I did, I saw Jamie looking back at me.”
Episodes of Being Jamie are released weekly alongside instalments of Outlander season eight.
Just like the final season of Outlander, Being Jamie will also run for 10 episodes.
