Fundraiser Controversy: Donation funds were allegedly used for a family relocation before Karmelo Anthony’s $600,000 campaign came to an end
Days after Karmelo Anthony was convicted of murder in the fatal stabbing of Austin Metcalf, attention turned to a crowdfunding campaign and how its funds were used. Fox News reported on June 11 that the GiveSendGo fundraiser raised more than $600,000 before removal, with a portion spent on family relocation and living expenses. In a statement on X, GiveSendGo said the campaign did not endorse Anthony or assert innocence and was created for pre-trial needs, including legal defense. Anthony, 19, was found guilty on June 9 for the April 2025 track meet stabbing in Frisco, Texas, and sentenced to 35 years; a notice of appeal was filed June 10, per TMZ. The family’s current location remains unclear.
