Sam Heughan has disclosed his least favourite line delivered by his character Jamie Fraser in the hit series Outlander.
Heughan was joined by fellow Outlander cast members Sophie Skelton (Brianna MacKenzie) and Richard Rankin (Roger MacKenzie), as well as showrunner Matthew B. Roberts and executive producer Maril Davis. During the discussion, Heughan delved into various topics, particularly highlighting a line from the show that he found particularly irksome.
“There was one time Matt and I fell out,” Sam Heughan explained. “I was floating in a very large bathtub in South Africa, and the line was, ‘If you die, I’ll kill you.’ And I had a real problem with that.”
Heughan mentioned his insistence on having Roberts clarify the line for him, to which Roberts confirmed he did, “over and over again”.
The Scottish actor also recounted how both Roberts and co-star Caitríona Balfe were exasperatedly urging him to “‘just say the f—ing line”.
This line is from a pivotal scene in the season three finale, titled Eye of the Storm, where Jamie saves Claire from a near-fatal drowning, reports the Irish Star.
Heughan wrapped up his comments by praising Diana Gabaldon, the author behind the Outlander novels, for her “amazing books.”
The popular STARZ series draws its inspiration from Gabaldon’s book series, which currently comprises nine published titles, with a tenth anticipated to round off the collection.

The series centres around Claire Randall, a former WWII nurse who inadvertently time-travels from 20th-century Britain to 17th-century Scotland. There, she encounters and falls for the dashing Highland warrior, Jamie Fraser. Debuting in August 2014, the show was brought to the screen by Ronald D. Moore.
Outlander has now officially concluded with its eighth and final season, which brought Jamie and Claire’s long-running story to a close after years of time-crossed drama and romance.
Although the main series has ended, the Outlander universe is continuing to expand. A new prequel series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, is now set to premiere its season 2 soon, exploring the lives of Jamie Fraser and Claire Randall’s parents and the events that shaped their world long before they met.
