Fans waiting for the next chapter of Landman may have to be a little more patient.
After early expectations pointed toward a spring or early summer production start, new reports indicate that filming for Season 3 is now expected to begin in late August instead. While the delay does not change the fact that the series is officially moving forward, it does raise questions about whether Landman can maintain its fast turnaround schedule.
Landman was officially renewed for a third season by Paramount+ following another major performance for the Taylor Sheridan drama. According to Paramount, Season 2’s premiere drew more than 9.2 million streams in its first two days, making it the platform’s biggest original premiere and showing just how quickly the West Texas series has grown into one of Sheridan’s most successful projects.
The production shift comes after earlier reports suggested Season 3 could begin filming in May, continuing the show’s typical schedule. But with Landman filming heavily on location in Texas and relying on long exterior shooting days, timing has become more complicated than previous seasons. Reports and comments surrounding production have pointed to Texas heat and the demands of location filming as factors shaping the schedule.
For fans, the obvious question is what this means for the release date.
Right now, Paramount+ has not announced an official Season 3 premiere date. However, Landman has developed a relatively quick production rhythm compared to many prestige dramas, and director Stephen Kay recently suggested the team works on editing while filming to help speed up post-production. That means a late August filming start does not automatically rule out a late 2026 release, although early 2027 is beginning to look like a more realistic possibility depending on how production unfolds.
Of course, fans of Taylor Sheridan’s universe know schedules can move quickly once cameras roll.
Until then, Seasons 1 and 2 remain available to stream while viewers wait to see when Tommy Norris and the rest of the Landman world officially return.
