[HEARTBREAKING TRAGEDY] Virgin River’s Denny Begs Doc Mullins For Assisted Suicide To Free Lizzie From His Illness!
Prepare your tissues, because Virgin River is about to tackle the most tear-jerking and controversial storyline it has ever attempted. While Lizzie’s pregnancy was supposed to bring a glimmer of hope to the town, Denny’s fatal Huntington’s disease is casting a massive, devastating shadow over their future.
A Rapid Decline According to heartbreaking Season 8 rumors, Denny’s condition begins to rapidly and painfully accelerate. He starts losing his motor functions and his memory faster than anyone anticipated. Horrified at the thought of Lizzie spending the best years of her youth as his full-time caretaker while raising a newborn baby alone, Denny makes a devastating decision out of pure love.

The Ultimate Plea Denny secretly goes to Doc Mullins with an impossible request. He begs his own grandfather for medical euthanasia (assisted suicide). Denny wants to die on his own terms, peacefully, before he loses his mind completely and becomes a burden to the girl he loves. This places Doc in the most agonizing moral dilemma of his life: break his medical oath to end his grandson’s suffering, or force Denny to live through the agony.
💬 THIS IS SO SAD: Should Doc honor his grandson’s devastating final wish, or fight for every last second of Denny’s life? We are sobbing already! Drop your thoughts below and click the link in the comments to read the full emotional theory! 👇
‘Virgin River’ Fans, You’re Going to Be Majorly Surprised About This News
(Netflix)
This story contains spoilers from Virgin River season 7.
Season 7 of Virgin River may have aired a few weeks ago, but there are so many questions we need answered.
The latest installment of the hit drama dropped on Netflix in March, and everyone was excited to see what was happening with their favorite characters. With Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) looking to expand their family, Brie Sheridan (Zibby Allen) figuring out her romance with Dan Brady (Ben Hollingsworth), and Hope McCrea (Annette O’Toole) struggling in her marriage with Vernon “Doc” Mullins (Tim Matheson), there’s a lot to explore.
So, viewers are likely interested in when new episodes will premiere.
Will there be a new season of Virgin River in 2026?
As of right now, Virgin River will not return with new episodes in 2026.
Despite what seems like a bit of bad news, don’t lose hope just yet! Tim recently gave the best Instagram update, and it turns out Virgin River is officially in production for season 8.
“And just like that, we’re officially back on set filming season 8 of #VirginRiver!” he wrote in the caption on April 22. “Here’s a little behind-the-scenes from season 7… we have a lot of fun behind those cameras, and I think that’s part of what makes the town feel so real 🙏🏻.”
Naturally, Tim’s announcement about Virgin River had fans in the comments hyped up.
“Happy filming! We love what you guys churn out for the fans. ❤️❤️❤️,” one person wrote. “I’m so happy that you’re going to shoot season 8 soon!! These shooting photos are too beautiful 💖✨,” another agreed. “Cannot wait!! Best show ever ❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥,” a different follower added.
But fans should note that Virgin River may look a little different when season 8 eventually airs on Netflix. Mainly, a casting shakeup occurred at the end of season 7, with Marco Grazzini (Mike Valenzuela) and Lauren Hammersley (Charmaine Roberts) both exiting the show ahead of the new season.
No matter the case, we’ll be counting down the days to see what Virgin River has in store!
