THE “GHOST” IS NOT ALONE: Is Someone Shielding the Desert Fugitive?
[ALICE SPRINGS] – The investigation into the tragic case of 5-year-old S. Granites has taken a chilling turn. As the manhunt for 47-year-old J. Lewis enters a critical 24-hour window, forensic breakthroughs and puzzling logistical gaps suggest that this “digital ghost” may be receiving help from the shadows.

The Impossible Fugitive: A Shadow in the Scrub
How does a man with no mobile phone, no bank account, and no vehicle evade a high-tech dragnet for days in one of the harshest environments on Earth? Investigators are now pivoting to a disturbing new theory: The Hidden Accomplice.
Despite drones with thermal imaging and elite tracking units scouring 20 $km^2$ of the Outback, Lewis remains at large. Authorities believe he is being provided with food, water, and “safe passage” by individuals within the local community who may be blinded by misplaced loyalty.
The “Third Profile” on the Doona Cover
The forensic analysis of the items recovered near the Alice Springs Telegraph Station has provided a massive “twist.” While the yellow-and-black shirt directly links Lewis to the scene, sources suggest that a “third DNA profile” was detected on the discarded doona cover found in the bush.
This discovery raises a terrifying question: Was there another person present during the 5YO’s final moments? If “Item 402” (as it is known in the police log) reveals a secondary DNA match, the charges could expand from a single-actor homicide to a wider criminal conspiracy.
The Midnight Discrepancy: 120 Minutes of Silence
The timeline of the night remains the investigation’s biggest hurdle.
-
11:00 PM: An eyewitness sees the suspect “nắm tay” (holding hands) with the child, walking calmly away from the camp.
-
11:00 PM – 1:00 AM: The family believes the girl is asleep.
-
1:30 AM: The alarm is finally raised.
Detectives are re-interrogating everyone present at the Old Timers Camp that night. Why was there a two-hour delay? The upcoming autopsy report, focusing on the exact time of death, will determine if the window for a rescue was missed due to this fatal confusion.
The Systemic Failure: 6 Days of Oversight
Public fury is mounting as it was revealed that Lewis was a high-risk offender released just 6 days prior to the disappearance. Shockingly, he was allowed to reside in the same house as the victim without GPS monitoring or a parole officer’s constant check-in. This legal “loophole” placed a predator in the direct path of the most vulnerable member of the community—a “Silent Angel” who was non-verbal and unable to call for help.
24 Hours to Justice
With a 5km crime scene now fully cordoned off and specialized homicide units flown in from Darwin, the net is tightening. Police have issued a final warning to anyone “harboring” the suspect: “You are now an accessory to a major crime.”
As the sun sets over the red sands of Alice Springs, the nation waits for the one thing that matters most—accountability for a life stolen in silence.
The suspect’s previous “Hồ sơ đen” (Dark History) and the secret witness testimonies are coming to light.
Missing five-year-old NT girl Sharon Granites found dead after suspected abduction as police arrest Jefferson Lewis
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are warned the following article contains names and images of the deceased.
A man accused of abducting a five-year-old Northern Territory girl has been arrested by police hours after her body was found.
The body of Sharon Granites, known to her family as Kumanjayi Little Baby, was located just before midday on Thursday about 5km from where she went missing.
Kumanjayi Little Baby was reported missing from her home on Marshall Ct in Old Timers Camp, Alice Springs, about 1.35am on Sunday.
“This is an incredibly distressing development,” NT Police Commissioner Martin Dole said.
“Sharon’s family have been formally notified and our thoughts are firmly with them at this devastating time.”
A post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted on Friday, as investigations continue.
Late on Thursday night, NT Police confirmed Jefferson Lewis, 47, was located and arrested at a residence in Alice Springs.
“Further information will be provided early in the morning,” police said in a statement.

In a statement read out NT Police’s executive director of cultural reform, Leanne Liddle, the family shared a heartfelt letter.
“To Kumanjayi Little Baby,” the statement from her mum said.
“Me and Ramsiah miss and love you.
“I know you are in heaven with the rest of the family with Jesus and the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
“Me and your brother will meet you one day.
“We are giving our lives to Jesus.
“It is going to be so hard to live the rest of our lives without you.
“Ramsiah wants to tell you that when he sees you in heaven, he is going to give you the biggest hug ever.
“Love from Mum and Ramsiah.”
The family also thanked the community for its efforts during the search.

NT Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro said the community now faces “dark days” that “rock everyone”.
“The heartbreak of this is real,” she said on Thursday.
“I’ve also spoken to our colleague, Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price, who is the auntie of Kumanjayi Little Baby. And so over the days and weeks, we stick together as Territorians, as we always do.
“We are focused on a grieving family, a grieving town and a grieving NT.”
She added in a statement on Facebook on Thursday night that Lewis was in custody.
“Great work by NT Police,” Finocchiaro wrote.

Price also issued a statement, saying the news of Kumanjayi Little Baby’s death was “devastating” and as part of the child’s extended family the loss was felt deeply.
“My thoughts are with her family and the Alice Springs community who are grieving,” she said.
“This is the worst possible outcome, and no child should ever be placed in harm’s way.
“Now we need justice for this horrific crime.”
Earlier on Thursday evening, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese wrote on X that he hoped Kumanjayi Little Baby lived on in every “heart she ever touched”.
“Our hearts are broken that the case of the little girl missing in Alice Springs has had such a tragic ending,” his statement said.
“She was just at the start of life’s adventure.

“This is the tragic outcome we were all desperately hoping against.
“No words can measure up to the immensity of the grief her family is going through. In their time of terrible loss, all Australians hold them in our hearts.
“This is devastating for the whole Alice Springs community, which came together to find her.
“We wish them strength, and also to the police in their difficult work as they pursue answers and, ultimately, justice.”
