The following information was shared with me by two separate, independent individuals close to the investigation.
Please keep in mind that these are their words and while the information has been corroborated, the investigation is ongoing. My goal is to share factual information and sometimes that information does not align with other narratives being shared or the popular opinion.
The following is what was shared and then corroborated by the second source:
Sean Six and Savanna Retheford had been in a toxic relationship and living together in the same house. Sean Six paid the household bills, received mail, and was listed on the lease agreement.
A few days before the incident, Sean Six moved out of the home after learning that Savanna Retheford had cheated on him with Hunter. After discovering the infidelity, Sean Six allegedly decided the relationship was over, packed his belongings, and left the residence.
After Sean moved out, Savanna Retheford changed the password to the Ring cameras. Sean allegedly sent numerous threatening text messages to both Savanna Retheford and Hunter, which led Savanna Retheford to change the locks on the home. ( per Tulsa PD)
Later that evening, Sean Six had been at CJ Maloney’s, allegedly drinking. CJ Maloney’s is a pub in the area.
After an alleged altercation at the bar, he was reportedly asked to leave, which witnesses say further intensified his anger.
According to the account, Sean then went back to the home he had shared with Savanna, allegedly knowing Hunter was present.
He forced entry into the home and reportedly walked past Savanna and another man (a friend of Hunter’s) who was inside the residence at the time. Sean then reportedly confronted Hunter and allegedly pushed him multiple times, forcing him backward into the back bedroom.
According to sources, it is Hunter’s story that Sean was threatening to kill Hunter and wouldn’t get off of Hunter.
As the confrontation escalated, the other witness in the house (Hunter’s friend) reportedly threw a firearm to Hunter. Hunter, allegedly feeling threatened, fired the weapon, striking Sean one time in the stomach.
Prior to Sean making entry into the home, neighbors reportedly heard the altercation and came outside seeing Sean breaking in to the house. Neighbors heard shots and called 911.
According to these sources, no shots were fired through any doors, and there was no attempt to lure Sean into the home.
Messages allegedly sent to Sean prior to the incident told him not to come to the house and that he was not welcome.
According to one source, the firearm was brought by the friend and until the incident occurred, Hunter was not aware that the friend had the firearm.
This case remains under investigation. At this time, no one has been charged.

Sean Six deadly shooting investigation details from Tulsa Police

Tulsa Police say evidence currently points toward self-defense in the shooting death of Sean Six. The Tulsa County District Attorney will decide whether charges will be filed.

Tulsa Police say evidence currently suggests a deadly shooting involving Sean Six in south Tulsa may be a case of self-defense.

Investigators say the Tulsa County District Attorney will ultimately decide whether charges should be filed.

The shooting happened early Tuesday morning at a home in south Tulsa.

Police say the investigation remains active.

What Tulsa Police say happened

Tulsa Police say investigators searched Six’s phone after the shooting and found text messages sent throughout the day.

“Throughout the day, he had sent several text messages to his girlfriend, to the shooter, threatening them,” said Captain Richard Meulenberg with Tulsa Police. “Threatening physical violence on them, and apparently, he was doing this throughout the day to other people as well.”

Police say Six lived at the home where the shooting occurred but had packed some clothes and moved out Monday, several hours before the shooting early Tuesday morning.

Investigators say Six first tried to enter through a window before kicking in the front door.

Police say Six’s girlfriend had invited a friend to the home, and he was there when Six returned early Tuesday morning.

“He comes into the house, bypasses the girlfriend, goes back and finds the shooter and goes to the back bedroom and that’s where he gets shot,” said Capt. Meulenberg.

What Six’s family and friends say

Six’s family and friends dispute parts of the police account.

They say:

  • Six was a committed and present father to three young sons.
  • Six did not move out of the house.
  • Six and his girlfriend got into a fight and he left the home.
  • While he was gone, the girlfriend changed the locks.
  • They believe the girlfriend and the man who fired the shots lured Six back to the house.

Investigation continues

Police say emotions surrounding the case are high, and investigators are focusing on evidence.

Officers say they must have probable cause before making an arrest.

“If you boil that away, the emotional stuff, then we are talking about the actual situation where he kicks in the door, he goes after somebody, then he gets shot by that person,” said Capt. Richard Meulenberg. “In Oklahoma, we’ve got Stand Your Ground, you’ve got Castle Doctrine, you’ve got all sorts of things that give you the right to defend yourself, but there are nuances in this case that the DA is going to have to consider as they decide where to go with it.”

The Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office will review the case to determine whether charges will be filed.

News On 6 is not naming the shooter or the girlfriend because neither has been arrested or charged with a crime.
