Nancy Guthrie has been missing for a month, with an Arizona local now speaking out after he was briefly detained by police.
The 84-year-old mom of Today show host Savannah Guthrie was reported missing by her family on February 1. She was last seen at her home in Tucson, Arizona, on January 31 after having dinner with her daughter, Annie Guthrie.
Since her disappearence, the FBI has shared photos and videos of an armed man in front of her home on the morning she vanished. The individual appeared to tamper with Nancy’s security camera. It comes after a mystery man who claimed he “saw Nancy 5 days ago” offered chilling new proof.
Luke Daley was briefly detained on February 13 in relation to Nancy’s disappearance. He has denied having any involvement in the case.
Investigators are continuing to scramble for answers as the search for Nancy has now entered week five.

Volunteers spotted with metal detectors outside home
Videos have surfaced of volunteers outside Nancy’s home as the search continues.
Reporter Brian Entin posted a video to X of people using the metal detectors in her Tucson, Arizona, neighborhood. They told Brian they were “looking for jewelry, or a bracelet” that could be linked to the case.
‘Mistakes’ made by kidnap suspect
An FBI profiler has spoken out about some “mistakes” made by the person filmed at Nancy’s home on the morning she went missing.
FBI profiler Jim Clemente spoke with Brian Entin on his YouTube show and suggested, “When we actually saw his behavior, we could see that he wasn’t at all ready for that door camera.”
The expert added, “He revealed that, I believe, he has a tattoo on the underside of his right wrist.”
Clemente described the man’s behavior as “really big mistakes for somebody who took the time to wear at least one mask.”

Pima County Sheriff’s statement in full
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has announced investigators are “closer” to finding Nancy.
Speaking to NBC News’ Liz Kreutz he revealed, “I think the investigators are definitely closer.”
He continued, “We got a lot of intel, a lot of leads, but now it’s time to just go to work.” He didn’t detail what the leads are.
Nanos was also asked about a new video of a car seen near Nancy’s home on the morning she went missing. “What I would tell you is this, we’re aware of it and we’re looking into it, just like any other piece of evidence” he responded.
The sheriff said they have not yet been able to identify the car.
“We’re looking at that vehicle as well as hundreds of thousands of other vehicles that were out driving that time of day,” he added.
Speaking about the backpack seen in a video of the suspect, Nanos shared, “We’ve now learned that maybe it wasn’t purchased down in Walmart.”
Instead, he suggested the suspect could have purchased it from somewhere like EBay.
He continued, “There’s so much that everybody wants to know, right? But I would be very neglectful, irresponsible, as a law enforcement leader to share that with everybody.
“We have information on this case that we think is going to hopefully lead us to solving this case but it takes time.”

Twist as witness claims he spotted Nancy Guthrie
An unnamed individual claims to have spotted Nancy Guthrie within the last week.
This development follows revelations from a former FBI agent about a concealed codeword that Savannah embedded in her communication to the abductors.
One person, however, chose to approach TMZ with their information instead of contacting federal authorities directly. They sent an email to the media outlet, asserting they possessed details about Nancy’s captors.
In return, they demanded 1 bitcoin, claiming the funds were necessary to help them remain hidden.
TMZ published the demand, but no one responded to the proposal. The source contacted them again, providing additional details and voicing frustration that their claims weren’t being taken seriously.
So far, they’ve sent TMZ four separate emails and have started suggesting that the investigation may extend into Mexico, which shares a border with Arizona.
“I know what I saw 5 days ago south of the border, and I was told to shut up, so I know who he is, and that was definitely Nancy with them,” they stated in their latest message. TMZ publicly offered to act as an intermediary, ensuring any information reaches the FBI and that the source receives their reward if the anonymous tipster comes forward with intelligence.

The man told him, “There were police officers at the door. They asked about our Ring camera which is only pointed in oour backyard at our dogs. A few weeks later I’m pretty sure I saw some FBI around here.”

He also included a video of the man. In the video, the man asks for “Brian Guthrie’s” phone number and then shakes the hands of other people there on the scene.
He also included an update, writing, “Pima County Sheriff’s Deputy just arrived looking for the guy. They are looking for him now. Guy was under the influence & claims he knows who took Nancy Guthrie.”

Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance case remains at a stand still as Sheriff Chris Nanos has said that the DNA found at the crime scene has not lead to any leads.
DNA found at the crime scene has been run through the FBI’s data banks but unfortunately there have been no hits matching any from their database.
He hasn’t given up hope as he says DNA could still be a viable source of evidence but more testing would be needed.
Clue about kidnapper’s backpack may be less clear than initially thought
Sheriff Chris Nanos revealed that although they know the kidnapper’s backpack is exclusively from Walmart, it doesn’t necessarily narrow down leads.
During an interview with NBC, he discussed way this clue may not be as crucial as they initially thought.
“That backpack is new, is exclusive to Walmart, but who’s to say I didn’t buy it and put it on eBay?” he told Kreutz. “That’s what we’re looking at.”

Retired NYPD detective explains the dangers of communities like Nancy Guthrie’s
Mike Sapraicone, a retired NYPD detective and founder of a global security firm, spoke to Fox News Digital about how neighborhoods like Nancy Guthrie pose security risks.
“When you go into these gated communities, the residents don’t know each other as much, they’re more spread out or they’re part-time communities,” Sapraicone said. “Some people are snowbirds, so they don’t really know each other as well, and they don’t pay as much attention.”
Sapraicone also said that in those neighborhoods, they don’t feel that they need to lock their doors. He added, “They don’t have to worry about things or that nobody’s going to bother them – but it’s just the opposite.”
The ex-detective mentioned that bad actors are attracted to those areas and why.
“You probably have a better opportunity there to get things of more value than you would in a small community that’s not gated or might be closer-knit,” he said.

‘Frustration’ growing in search for Nancy
One of Nancy’s neighbors has spoken out to criticize the speed of the investigation.
Appearing on Brian Entin Investigates, Jeff was asked, “Are you surprised we don’t know more about the investigation?”
The neigbor replied, “That’s the frustration, is, as I noted, folks were beyond helpful to say, ‘Have our Ring video, come to our house, interview us, talk to each other.'”
Jeff said neighbors were trying their best to recall if they’d seen anything unusual when Nancy vanished.
DNA issue exposed as cops urged ‘go back’
A forensic expert has urged investigators to go back over DNA found in the Nancy Guthrie case.
April Stonehouse, a forensic science professor at Arizona State University who specializes in mixed DNA analysis, appeared on the Today show and suggested, “There are potentially items of evidence that maybe don’t have a lot of DNA on them to begin with.”
She continued to suggest the mixed DNA sample found at Nancy’s home likely contained around 90 per cent of the victim’s genetic material and only 10 per cent from the suspect.
The expert urged officials to “go back and rerun that sample and add more DNA, hoping to bring up the signal from the suspect’s profile.”
Detained man’s connection to Nancy Guthrie revealed
Arizona local Luke Daley has been released after being detained in connection to Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapping.
Daley’s mom’s home was raided by a SWAT team on February 13. He has denied having any involvement in the case and his lawyer Chris Scileppi has now spoken out about what happened.

Influencer branded ‘embarrassing’ after photoshoot outside Nancy’s home
A streamer has been criticized after showing up outside Nancy’s home for a photoshoot.
The influencer, who goes by the name Kiki, arrived at the home on Friday wearing a black crop top and matching shorts as she posed for pictures at the crime scene with a photographer in tow, according to pictures obtained by The New York Post.
At one point during Kiki’s livestream, someone was heard branding her “embarrassing.”
The influencer replied by putting up her middle finger.

Speaking to NewsNation reporter Brian Entin, Maureen O’Connell delved into the deal the suspect could make with authorities to avoid being sent to prison.
In Brian’s March 2 YouTube video, Maureen told viewers that if more than one person is involved in the kidnapping, one of them could turn to the authorities to claim the money.
“If we put ourselves in the minds of the perpetrators here, they’re like, ‘we can’t say anything, we’re going to go to prison,'” Maureen said. “Yeah, one person’s going to go to prison, but we all know if the accomplice comes forward and gives up the guy, there’s a really good chance he can get off and get $1 million.”
It comes after Nancy’s daughter, Savannah Guthrie, confirmed that the family are offering a $1 million reward for the ‘recovery’ of Nancy.
Expert claims cops ‘lost control’ of the investigation
Officials are yet to share an update on a possible suspect, with legal expert Chad D Cummings criticizing the investigation.
He told The Express US, “When the FBI assumes jurisdiction, it adds layers of approval. Deputies in Pima County who knew the terrain and the population (as well as local gangs and cartels) lost control to agents who flew in from field offices with no knowledge of the area.
“The strategy of releasing information in stages serves the bureau’s prosecution timeline, not the survival timeline of the victim or her family. That is a serious conflict of interest.”
Video footage can throw up ‘challenges’
With investigators searching through thousands of hours worth of footage, an expert has suggested they could find it “challenging.”
Former FBI agent Maureen O’Connell spoke with Brian Entin on his YouTube channel and explained reviewing the video involves slowing footage down, enhancing it, identifying vehicles and “chasing the vehicle” through the neighborhood.
All footage must be cross-referenced with other critical information such as phone numbers and geo-fencing data, O’Connell shared.
