The so-called signal sniffer is programmed to detect the unique address ofย Nancyโs pacemakerย with a directional antenna, CBS affiliateย KOLDย reported.
Investigators hope it will sharpen the search near Nancyโs home, which hasย been made difficult by the rough, desert terrainย peppered with cactus and sharp cliffs.
Fox Newsโ Griff Jenkins took a ride on the chopper, and described the process as finding a needle in a haystack, pointing to the thousands of properties in Nancyโs neighborhood Catalina Hills.
While investigators are hoping to get a ping by flying the helicopter low to the ground, Morgan Wright,ย CEO and founder of theย National Center for Open and Unsolved Cases, said they should be using drones.

โThe Guthrie family are victims plain and simple [โฆ] please, Iโm begging you the media to honor your profession and report with some sense of compassion and professionalism.โ
Clues surface
Investigators confirmed the masked suspect wasย wearing a backpack and gun holster sold at Walmart, and experts say theyโre likely combing through CCTV at stores in the area.
โThe backpack and the holster are both very promising leads,โ Betsy Smith of the Nationalย Policeย Association toldย The New York Post.
If the suspect paid with a card and was caught on camera at the self-checkout, cops could better traced his movements.
While more investigation details are coming to light, heartbroken Savannah continues to plead with her momโs suspected kidnapper.
In her latest video shared on social media, she begged the suspect to do the right thing and tell them Nancyโs whereabouts.
โI wanted to say that to whoever has her or knows where she is, that itโs never too late,โ said the anchor who has clung to her faith and prayers.
