Car towed from Nancy Guthrie’s home after law enforcement returned Friday
A car was towed away from Nancy Guthrie’s home hours after law enforcement swarmed the residence Friday.
The truck was towing a “dark car” and “headed south,” Fox News reported.
It was flanked by a police escort, a reporter on site added.
The road leading to the house was blocked off entirely earlier Friday afternoon, shortly after the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and FBI confirmed they had obtained a “new message” sent by Nancy’s suspected kidnappers.
It’s unclear why the vehicle was removed.
When asked about the latest development, the PCSD said: “The investigation is ongoing, and detectives and agents are actively continuing their work.”

Father of Elizabeth Smart on ‘uncertainty’ of kidnapping
The father of former kidnapping victim Elizabeth Smart has described the emotional toll her abduction took on him, amid the reported kidnapping of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie’s mother Nancy.
“Not knowing is one of the worst things out there,” Ed Smart told CNN, as he gave his perspective on the ongoing search for the 84-year-old.
“Not knowing what Elizabeth was going through, how she was surviving, and all of these questions, of course, apply to Nancy,” he added, as the search for the missing mom and grandmother enters its sixth day.
Elizabeth was 14 when she was kidnapped by Wanda Barzee and her husband, Brian David Mitchell, from her open bedroom window at her Salt Lake City home in 2002.
The teen was sexually assaulted on a near-daily basis before she was rescued nine months later after a good Samaritan spotted her and alerted the police.
On Wednesday, Savannah and her siblings posted an emotional video begging for their mother’s kidnappers to get in touch.
Ed added that he later found out that the video messages made by the family while Elizabeth was being held captive had “given her hope” that she would one day be freed.
“Certainly Elizabeth did get the message, and I think it gave her hope, knowing that we would try to do everything in our power to bring her home,” he said.

Camera snatched off Nancy Guthrie’s house could have been kidnapper’s ‘test’ to see if cops responded, NBC crime expert says
Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapper could have disconnected her doorbell camera as a “test” to see if doing so would alert police, an NBC News law enforcement expert suggested Friday.
“What’s with that 20-minute gap? The camera gets ripped off the doorbell, but then there’s motion seen on the camera outside, you know, 20 minutes later,” NBC National Law Enforcement & Intelligence Correspondent Tom Winter said during Friday’s “Today” show.
He speculated that Nancy’s abductor “took the doorbell camera off and waited to see if police arrived,” citing anonymous law enforcement sources.

“The letter begins by saying she is safe, but scared, and they go on to say she knows exactly what the demand is,” he told Fox News host Sean Hannity on Thursday.

AG Bondi: ‘It breaks my heart for Savannah’
Attorney General Pam Bondi has said Nancy’s disappearance is “breaking her heart,” as she gave an emotional response to a question about the case during a Friday morning press conference.
“It breaks my heart for Savannah and for her family. I know she’s asked for all of our prayers. So please pray for her. Pray for her beautiful mom. Pray for her family that she’s returned home. That’s all we can say about that at this time,” Bondi said during her morning briefing at the Department of Justice.
“I’ve known Savannah for over 30 years and it’s breaking my heart,” she said, before adding that federal authorities were working alongside local law enforcement in Arizona.

Ashleigh Banfield doubles down on ‘reckless’ claim that Savannah Guthrie’s brother-in-law ‘may be prime suspect’
Ashleigh Banfield is standing by her claim that Savannah Guthrie’s brother-in-law “may be the prime suspect” in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie — even after the local Arizona sheriff on the case said there are zero suspects, calling the reporting “reckless.”
Banfield told the Status newsletter on Thursday that she is sticking to her reporting, which cited just one unnamed law enforcement source and aired on her podcast, despite repeated public denials from Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos.
“We don’t have anybody here listed as a suspect,” Nanos said at a press conference Thursday, stressing that investigators also have no persons of interest.
