“I want private time with you,” Epstein told Andrew in the September email exchange, days after his sentence ended in August 2010

NEED TO KNOW
- New emails released by the Department of Justice show that the former prince Andrew arranged a meeting with sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein days after Epstein’s house arrest sentence ended in 2010
- Epstein was convicted of solicitation of prostitution of a minor in 2008, and sentenced to serve 18 months in prison before his early release in 2009
- As Epstein finished serving his house arrest sentence in 2010, Andrew arranged a dinner at Buckingham Palace with Epstein and three women
New emails made public by the Department of Justice as part of the ongoing disclosure of files related to the investigation of sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein show that former prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor invited the disgraced financier to visit Buckingham Palace shortly after Epstein finished serving a house arrest sentence in 2010.
In June 2008, Epstein pled guilty to charges of solicitation of prostitution and solicitation of prostitution with a minor under the age of 18, after which he was sentenced to serve 18 months in a minimum-security prison. He was released from the facility in 2009 and began serving the house arrest sentence, which ended in August 2010.
Weeks later, Epstein was emailing Andrew to arrange a meeting, writing that he would “need private time” with the former prince in a message sent on Sept. 27, 2010, and sharing that he was in London with three women.
Also in the email, Epstein asks Andrew, listed in Epstein’s contacts as “TheDuke,” if he should bring the women, “so as to add some life.”

In response, Andrew offers Buckingham Palace as the location for the meeting, noting that the two men and their companions would have “lots of privacy” there.
“I am just departing Scotland should be down by 1800. I’ll ring you when I get down if you can give me a number to ring,” Andrew wrote. “Alternatively we could have dinner at Buckingham Palace and lots of privacy.”
The emails are the latest documents from the DOJ’s Epstein files releases to offer insight into the relationship between Andrew and Epstein. In December, a photo of Andrew sitting alongside Epstein co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell was released, which appeared to show Epstein and Maxwell inside the saloon at Sandringham House, one of the late Queen Elizabeth’s most beloved royal estates.
Then, on Jan. 6, photographer Christopher Anderson shared photos of Epstein’s desk, originally taken as part of an Epstein interview that was later scrapped, of correspondence between Epstein and Andrew.
In the emails, Andrew and Epstein discussed wages that were owed to a former staffer employed by Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, a debt that Epstein later helped settle.

The revelations follow Andrew’s October 2025 announcement that he would no longer use his royal titles and honors, as evidence of his association with Epstein continued to mount. In a statement issued by Buckingham Palace, Andrew said that “continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family.”
Weeks later, Buckingham Palace confirmed that Andrew had been stripped of his titles.
Andrew has been publicly connected to Epstein since 2010, when photos of the two walking in Central Park first surfaced amid controversy surrounding Epstein’s plea deal in the 2008 prostitution cases, which allowed him to serve much of the 13-month sentence on “work release” at his Palm Beach office.
